SUNSET PLAN = This is for anyone making over $50,000 individually, or over $75,000 as a household/combined. This is a full-priced share which helps subsidize our other shares.

PARK PLAN = This is for anyone making under $50,000 individually, or under $75,000 as a household/combined.

BROOKLYN PLAN = This is for anyone who is eligible for an EBT / SNAP benefit card

The Sunset Park CSA is a mixed-income CSA. We offer a three-tier pricing structure in order to make our vegetable and bread shares available at a lower price to households with limited incomes. Members from households with greater incomes purchase SUNSET plans, and they help subsidize members whose households have lower incomes.

This pricing structure supports economic equity and ensures that quality produce and food shares remain accessible to everyone in our community. Please note that we are currently working on the necessary applications to accept food stamps/EBT cards as payment and will provide updates to BROOKLYN plan members as needed.

If you plan to share your vegetable share with roommates or other adults, you should consider everyone's combined income to determine if you are eligible. Income includes wages, social security, parental support, public assistance, student loans, unemployment benefits, and retirement benefits.

A limited number of PARK shares are available. While we will try to accommodate as many households as possible, we cannot guarantee that PARK shares will be available for everyone who requests one.

Unfortunately fruit, egg, and coffee cannot be subsidized. Vegetable shares and bread shares are subsidized.

Donations

Our CSA offers tiered, lower priced shares to members who qualify for subsidized shares of vegetables.  They are our BROOKLYN and PARK Plans. The plans are partially subsidized by the subsidy amount each SUNSET share pays, but it is not enough to meet demand for subsidized CSA shares.

In the past, the Core Group has gotten grants to help further subsidize shares and we continue to search and apply for other grant possibilities, though there are not many available.

SO we offer our members the option of donating additional money, above the standard subsidy charge for SUNSET members.  If you are willing and able, your additional contribution can assist specifically toward offsetting the cost of a BROOKLYN or PARK Plan Share for our CSA community members and allow us to increase membership numbers.

We are so humbled and grateful to our Members for their continued generosity each + every season--- to help offset costs for each other, no matter which Plan they fall under.

A little goes a long way. Below are some examples of how your donations can help families:

  • $15 = a week's pick up of BROOKLYN Plan Vegetables

  • $60 = an entire month of pick ups of BROOKLYN Plan Vegetables

  • $175 = an entire season of an EOW Share of BROOKLYN Plan Vegetables

  • $350 = entire season of a Weekly Share of BROOKLYN Plan Vegetables

  • $25 = a week's pick up of PARK Plan Vegetables

  • $100 = an entire month of pick ups of PARK Plan Vegetables

  • $300 = an entire season of an EOW Share of PARK Plan Vegetables

  • $585 = an entire season of a Weekly Share of PARK Plan Vegetables

Donations can be specified and calculated at the time of sign-up or can be accepted at any point in the season.
